Since opening on Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, Gift of Lights has hosted nearly 12,000 vehicles to the two-mile light display at The Great American Speedway. The display is open every day from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. through Jan., 3, 2020, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A $1 donation from each ticket sold benefits Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas Chapter (https://www.speedwaycharities.org/texas/).
“The holiday tradition that Gift of Lights has become over the last decade has taken on even greater importance in 2020,” said Texas Motor Speedway President and General Manager Eddie Gossage. “It’s been great to see so many people, from not only North Texas but throughout the state and many other states across the country, make it a point to create new memories by participating in this year’s program. A portion of the proceeds go to Speedway Children’s Charities so the great increase in attendance also benefits local children in need.”
Tickets to 'Gift of Lights' are available online (giftoflightstexas.com) for $30 (cars/trucks), $50 (RVs/truck trailers), and $60 (bus of 20 people). Passengers must remain in their vehicles due to COVID-19. Motorcycles and passengers in truck beds and trailers are prohibited.
Drive-through guests will be captivated by the more than two million lights spread across the circuit, the result of more than 1,100 man-hours of setup by holiday display giant Winterland, Inc. There will be Food Truck Nights each Friday and Saturday. The in-vehicle event is and always has been socially distanced.
